How Video Piper collects, uses and protects personal information. Last updated October 3, 2026.

Summary

Video Piper ("we", "us") runs Video Piper, a video processing API and web app. We collect only what we need to run the service and bill for it. We don't sell personal information, we don't use advertising or analytics trackers, and our website sets no cookies.

What we collect

Account details

When we give you access, we record a user name, your name and a contact (email or phone), the plan you're on, and limits such as videos per day. API keys are stored only as one-way hashes: we can't read your key, and we show it to you once.

Your videos and the files made from them

Videos you upload or record, and the outputs we create (downloads, streaming copies, poster images), along with details about them such as file names, sizes, durations, quality settings, edit and redaction instructions, and processing status.

Usage and billing records

For each finished video: processing minutes, the quality multiplier and the storage it uses over time. These records are how we bill you, so we keep them as billing history.

Contact form messages

If you write to us through the contact page: your name, email, company (optional), topic and message. To stop abuse, we count messages per IP address and per email for one day, using one-way hashes that are deleted after two days.

Technical logs

Our hosting records request and error logs (for example, time, route, result and request ID) to keep the service secure and working. We avoid logging file names, signed links, credentials or message contents.

In your browser

The web app saves your preferences (such as upload quality) in your browser's local storage, and your API key only if you choose "remember me" (otherwise it is cleared when you close the tab). The marketing site and docs store nothing.

How we use it

We don't use your videos to train models, and we don't look at them except when you ask us to help with a specific video, or when the law requires it.

Who we share it with

We use a small number of service providers that process data on our behalf, under contracts that protect it:

We may disclose information if the law requires it, to protect the rights and safety of our users or the public, or as part of a merger or sale of the business (with notice to you). We never sell personal information or share it for advertising.

How long we keep it

Security

Data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS only) and at rest. Storage is private: videos are only reachable through signed links that expire. API keys are stored as hashes, access within our infrastructure follows least privilege, and every upload is tied to its owner. No system is perfectly secure; if a breach affects your personal information, we'll tell you as the law requires.

People in your videos

Videos you upload may show or mention other people. For that content you decide what is uploaded and why, and we process it on your instructions. You're responsible for having the right to upload it. Our redaction tools (blur and black bars, including tracking) can help you hide faces, screens and other details before you share a video.

Your choices and rights

Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR in the EU/UK or state laws such as the CCPA in California), you may have the right to access, correct, delete or export your personal information, and to object to or restrict some processing. You can delete videos yourself at any time. For anything else, send a privacy request and we'll respond within 30 days. We may need to confirm your identity first. We won't treat you differently for exercising your rights.

Where the GDPR applies, we rely on performing our contract with you (providing the service), our legitimate interests (security, preventing abuse, answering messages) and legal obligations (billing records).

International transfers

We store and process data in the United States. If you use the service from elsewhere, your information is transferred to the US, with safeguards such as standard contractual clauses where the law requires them.

Children

Video Piper is a developer service, not intended for children under 16, and we don't knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child has given us personal information, please contact us and we'll delete it.

Changes and contact

We'll update this page when our practices change and revise the date at the top. For significant changes we'll also notify account holders. Questions? Use the contact page.
